Requirements for Admission Consideration

Facilities:
The Main Ultrasound department at WVUH utilizes state of the art Philips™ equipment that includes six Philips IU22, xMatrix™ Ultrasound Systems. Our machines have the most recent technological software packages available including 3D/4D imaging. The department is completely filmless with several Centricity™ work stations. We also have the advantage of utilizing General Electric Ultrasound equipment which is located in the Obstetric and Gynecology department. The OB facility utilizes 2 GE Voluson™ 730 machines. A caseload of approximately 10,000 examinations per year provides students with an excellent comprehensive clinical experience in Ultrasound.

Enrollment:
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is accredited to enroll a maximum of six students. With the program's academic length being 18 months with a July start date each year, the program enrolls three new students each July.

Tuition & Fees:
Tuition is $1,000 per semester ($3,000 for the 18 month program). Additional costs include books, uniforms, graduation fees, electronic tracking fees (see below) and certification exam fees. Students are informed of required textbook and uniform purchases upon admission to the program. Upon acceptance into the program, students are assessed a non-refundable, $50 admission fee. All tuition and fees are subject to change without notice.

Financial Aid:
Students enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program do not qualify for Federal financial aid.

Trajecsys Report System:
The Trajecsys Report System has been implemented into our diagnostic medical sonography program for the purpose of clinical tracking. This electronic record has taken the place of the traditional paper clinical handbook that contained all of the student evaluations, including but not limited to the qualifying and competency examinations. Each enrolled student will be required to pay a one-time fee of $150.00 for usage of this system during the 18 month program. Fees are subject to change without notice.
